JUNE KEY POINTS

LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTERED

  • The trend estimate for sheep slaughterings increased for the twelfth consecutive month, to 1.1 million, and was 13% higher than same period last year.
  • The trend estimate for cattle slaughterings increased for the fifth consecutive month, to 679,000, and was 3% higher than same time in the previous year.
  • The trend estimate for lamb slaughterings decreased for the eighth consecutive month, to 1.6 million, and was 7% down compared to the same time last year.
MEAT PRODUCTION
  • The trend estimate for mutton production was little changed compared to last month, however increased 21% compared to the same time last year.
  • The trend estimate for beef production increased for the fifth consecutive month, to 183,000 tonnes, and was 5% higher than the same period in the previous year.
  • The trend estimate for lamb production decreased for the eighth consecutive month, to 32,000 tonnes, and was 8% down on the previous year.
