JULY KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for lamb slaughterings rose for the twelfth consecutive month, to 1.6 million. This was the highest figure recorded since September 2000.
  • The trend estimate for pig slaughterings fell for the sixth consecutive month, to 436,900. This was the lowest figure recorded since August 2001.
  • The trend estimate for lamb meat production rose for the eleventh consecutive month, to 32,900 tonnes. This was the highest figure recorded since August 2000.
  • The trend estimate for pig meat production fell for the sixth consecutive month, to 31,900 tonnes. This was the lowest figure recorded since July 2001.
