FEBRUARY KEY POINTS

Livestock and meat slaughter monthly trend movements for February 2019:
  • Cattle slaughter increased by 6,100 head (or 0.9%) in the month ending February 2019 compared with the previous month and increased by 70,300 head (or 11.3%) year-on-year.
  • Calf slaughter increased by 750 head (or 1.7%) in the month ending February 2019 and increased by 12,900 head (or 40.1%) year-on-year.
  • Sheep slaughter decreased by 4,100 head (or 0.5%) for the month ending February 2019 compared with the previous month but increased by 104,700 head (or 15.2%) year-on-year.
  • Lamb slaughter increased by 42,700 head (or 2.3%) for the month ending February 2019 compared with the previous month but decreased by 14,300 head (or 0.7%) year-on-year.
  • Pig slaughter decreased by 2,400 head (or 0.5%) for the month ending February 2019 compared to the previous month and decreased by 10,400 head (or 2.3%) year-on-year.
