KEY POINTS

Livestock and meat production monthly trend movements for February 2015:
  • Cattle slaughter showed a small increase in February 2015 to remain at high levels reflecting continued drought conditions, higher beef prices and beef exports.
  • Sheep slaughter continued its gradual decline in February 2015 as the industry prepares to restock.
  • Lamb slaughter has continued to decline, following the September 2014 peak which was the result of drought conditions.
