APRIL KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for calve slaughterings increased for the tenth consecutive month to 87,400.
    This was the highest figure recorded since June 2003.
  • The trend estimate for sheep slaughterings declined for the fifth consecutive month to 1.0 million.
  • The trend estimate for mutton production declined for fifth consecutive month, to 21,400 tonnes.
  • The trend estimate for lamb production increased for the fourth consecutive month, to 35,100 tonnes.
