Livestock slaughtered and meat produced


Trends since March 2019

Cattle

• 2.07 million were slaughtered (up 0.4%)
• 582,700 tonnes of beef were produced (down 0.2%)

• 2.2 million were slaughtered (down 6.7%)
• 53,000 tonnes of mutton were produced (down 5.6%)

• 5.7 million were slaughtered (up 2.2%)
• 132,000 tonnes of lamb were produced (up 3.5%)

• 1.3 million were slaughtered (down 1.8%)
• 100,600 tonnes of pork were produced (down 2.0%)

• 159 million were slaughtered (down 2.1%)
• 308,000 tonnes of chicken meat were produced (down 1.3%)

Receivals for the June 2019 quarter are the lowest on record. Continuing dry seasonal conditions have led to a decrease in wool produced in most regions, with many farms destocking across recent months.

• 78,500 tonnes were received (down 2.7%)
• Wool brokers and dealers reported decreases in most states with a Victoria down 2.9% ( to 23,200 tonnes), Western Australia down 3.5% (to 18,300 tonnes) and South Australia down 11.7% (to 9,300 tonnes)
• New South Wales reported a 1.8% increase in wool receivals (to 24,900 tonnes)
