VIEW FROM THE TOP PADDOCK
Welcome to the latest edition of the Ag Mag. It is hard to believe that Spring has arrived, and with it, the new lambs in the paddocks, blossom on the trees and new growth everywhere. We are seeing the fruits of recent labour coming into focus here too - you may have seen that the data from the Agricultural Land and Water Ownership Survey has been released today - more about that in this mag. We have no doubt that the results will be met with great interest after the extensive and prolonged media coverage the ownership of agricultural businesses and their land and water entitlements have enjoyed over the past nine months.
Our other big undertaking this year is of course the Agricultural Census. There is a more detailed update in this mag, but suffice to say the response has been terrific from so many agricultural businesses so far and we are well into processing this important collection. Preliminary estimates will be out in November, so make sure you keep an eye out for them. Additionally this year, the Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced (VACP) is travelling well to meet targets of outputting preliminary estimates in November, months earlier than previously available.
There are a number of other things going on here at the moment and whilst they are not well enough developed at this point to share too much with you, we look forward to sharing some exciting new directions in our environment and agriculture statistics program in the next edition.
Well, that's it from the top paddock for now. Enjoy this edition of the Ag Mag and all that Spring has to offer. We look forward to bringing you more news of our happenings in Summer.
