PREFACE
Over recent years the natural gas industry has seen development of new gas fields, increased output and the construction of facilities for the production of liquified natural gas (LNG) for the export market. In response to recent interest in information related to prices of natural gas, this paper provides a description of information which is currently available from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and discusses proposed future developments. Readers are invited to provide feedback on the proposed developments. The primary focus of this paper is on producer prices of natural gas sold in the domestic market, however there is some discussion of export prices and consumer prices.
