DECEMBER KEY POINTS
QUARTERLY ESTIMATES
- In the December quarter 2012 there were 58 disputes, 10 less than in the September quarter 2012.
- The number of employees involved in industrial disputes in the December quarter 2012 was 27,300, a decrease from 55,800 in the September quarter 2012.
- There were 25,700 working days lost due to industrial disputation in the December quarter 2012, a decrease from 110,000 in the September quarter 2012.
- The combined Education and training and Health care and social assistance industry (14,100) accounted for 55% of the total number of working days lost in the December quarter 2012. The Coal mining industry had the highest number of working days lost per thousand employees (56.8) this quarter.
- New South Wales (11,800) and Victoria (10,600) together accounted for 87% of working days lost in the December quarter 2012.
YEAR ENDED ESTIMATES
- During the year ended December 2012, there were 204 disputes, 12 more than in the year ended December 2011.
- During the year ended December 2012, there were 273,200 working days lost compared with 241,500 in the year ended December 2011.
