TREND ESTIMATES

  • From August 2003 to August 2004 the number of public sector employees increased by 51,900 (3.4%) to 1,574,500.
  • In the same period the number of employees increased in state government by 3.7%, in local government by 3.5% and in Commonwealth government by 1.8%.
