CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE
Telstra Corporation was effectively privatised on 20 November 2006. For the purposes of ABS statistics this change from public sector to private sector is effective from March quarter 2007.
Consequently Telstra Corporation is no longer in scope of the Survey of Employment and Earnings - Public Sector, and Telstra data are excluded from the series from March quarter 2007. A trend break has been applied to the public sector employees series between November 2006 and February 2007.
For more information see Information Paper: Future Treatment of Telstra in ABS Statistics, 2007 (cat. no. 8102.0), released on 26 February 2007.
FUTURE ISSUES
The quarterly Survey of Employment and Earnings - Public Sector is being replaced with an annual survey, commencing with the 2007-08 reference year. As a result this publication will be ceasing as a quarterly issue. The June quarter 2007 issue, which is scheduled to be released on 13 September 2007, will be the final quarterly issue. Data from the 2007-08 survey is expected to be released in December 2008.
