The Labour Force, Australia: Labour Force Status and Other Characteristics of Families (cat. no. 6224.0.55.001) product set is a component of the Labour Force Survey series of products and includes detailed data not contained in the monthly Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0) product set.
From October 2008, the method of producing family estimates from the LFS included: expanding the scope to include households containing permanent members of the Australian defence forces; a wider range of families in the LFS sample contributing to the family estimates; and improving the weighting method by utilising independent population benchmarks (of persons and households), ensuring the estimates more closely reflected the Australian population. Since these products are based on the same data as the Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0) publication, its Explanatory Notes are relevant to both releases.
