REVISIONS IN THIS ISSUE The correction of data previously provided to the ABS and the incorporation of final survey data has resulted in revisions to estimates from September quarter 2000, across most items.
Assets of Securitisers At the end of the March quarter 2007, total assets of Australian Securitisers were $245.2b, up $12.6b (5.4%) on the December quarter 2006 total. PERCENTAGE CHANGE IN TOTAL ASSETS, from previous quarter Mortgage assets, which accounted for 77.9% of total assets, were $190.9b at 31 March 2007, an increase of $8.0b (4.4%) during the quarter.
NET ACQUISITION OF MORTGAGES DURING QUARTER Liabilities of Securitisers The increase of $12.6b in total liabilities during the March quarter 2007 was due to offshore issuance of asset backed securities (up $11.6b, 15.5%) CHANGE IN ASSET BACKED SECURITIES, from previous quarter Asset backed securities issued offshore increased to 35.3% of total liabilities in the March quarter 2007, up 3.1 percentage points on December quarter 2006. Asset backed securities issued domestically fell to 53.1% of total liabilities, down 3.3 percentage points on December quarter 2006.
