NEW PUBLICATION DESIGN - AUSTRALIAN SYSTEM OF NATIONAL ACCOUNTS, (Cat. no. 5204.0)
In the June quarter 2003 release of Australian National Accounts: National Income, Expenditure and Product (cat.no. 5206.0) the ABS indicated its intention to make changes in the format of the next 5206.0 publication to be released on December 3, 2003. This publication has been prepared and is available to users.
Concurrently, Australian System of National Accounts(Cat. no. 5204.0) has been re-formatted and the AusStats tables are now available via the national accounts theme page under the heading "New design of 5206.0, 5220.0 and 5204.0". To get to the theme page go to the ABS website and select: Themes => Economy=> National Accounts. A concordance between the old and new tables has also been developed and can also be accessed on the national accounts theme page.
The changes to 5204.0 can be viewed in the "5204.0 Table concordance document" document located in the above document on the ABS Website. There are minor changes to Table 1 ( additional series), Tables 10 and 11( removal of water transport), Table 20 (split of the revaluation account into neutral and real holding gains). The major changes are to tables 22 and 23 (the inclusion of quality adjusted labour input changes) and the inclusion of tables 21 (Analytical measures of national income, saving and wealth ) and 47 (Analytical measures of household income, consumption, saving and wealth).
The data in the re-formatted tables are sourced from the 2002-03 release of 5204.0 for the first 4 years to give users and indication of presentation for the new spreadsheet format.
