In 2008, 23% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people reported being a victim of physical or threatened violence in the past 12 months, similar to the rate in 2002 (24%).
CONTACT WITH POLICE
In 2008, 15% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 15 years and over had been arrested in the last five years either once, or more than once. This rate was higher in remote (19%) than non-remote (14%) areas.
USE OF LEGAL SERVICES
In 2008, less than one-fifth (18%) of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 15 years and over had used legal services in the last 12 months.
NEIGHBOURHOOD AND COMMUNITY PROBLEMS
In 2008, 71% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 15 years and over reported the presence of at least one neighbourhood or community problem present in their area.
