CLASSIFICATIONS AND SCOPE
The Energy Account excludes solvents, lubricants, grease and bitumen from the grouping 'refined products'. INDUSTRY CLASSIFICATION Industry classifications used in this publication for data from 2007-08 onwards broadly follow the 2006 edition of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industry Classification (ANZSIC). However, supply/use data prior to 2007-08 are classified according to the previous (1993) edition of ANZSIC. These classifications differ from those used in ABARES' Australian Energy Statistics to present supply and use of energy products by Australian industry. The table below shows the industries used in Table A of Australian Energy Statistics alongside corresponding groups of ANZSIC industries. Where the account draws on data from ABARES' Australian Energy Statistics data from the Energy, Water and Environment Management Survey (EWES) 2008-09 were used to assist in reallocating the supply and use of energy products between industries. In particular, the use of transport fuels by industries and the movement of waste from Commercial and Services to Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services were accounted for. Concordance between industry classification used in Australian Energy Statistics (ABARES) and ANZSIC 2006 is provided below.
(a) ABARES categories of transport (road, rail, air and water) include associated services to transport, including relevant storage services. Note: ABARES industry classification used in Table A of Australian Energy Statistics varies over time. The classification attributed to ABARES here is based on the 2008-09 version of Table A of Australian Energy Statistics. Document Selection These documents will be presented in a new window.
