This Expanded Confidentialised Unit Record File Technical Manual will be re-issued on 19 November 2008. An error in family weights resulted in the previously released family estimates for June 2005 overstating, by about 7%, the total number of families with children under 13 years. The first paragraph on page 4 of the manual has been updated to reflect the corrected weighting methodology, and T2 on page 20 providing standard errors of family estimates has also been updated.

The family weighting error does not affect child level estimates.

The corrected family weights have also been incorporated in a re-issue on 19 November of the summary publication and State and Territory data cubes (cat. no. 4402.0), and the Expanded Confidentialised Unit Record File (cat. no. 4402.0.55.001).

This Technical Manual provides information about the data available from the 2005 Child Care Survey in the form of a Confidentialised Unit Record File (CURF).

The CURF contains a set of data items and is only accessible through the Remote Access Data Laboratory. For more information about accessing CURFS, see Access to CURFS at www.abs.gov.au.
