EXPLANATORY NOTES


Introduction

Explanatory Notes in the form found in other ABS publications are not included in this publication, Gender Indicators, Australia. Readers are directed to the Explanatory Notes contained in the publication/s for the data sources used to compile each indicator.

Gender Indicators, Australia presents a summary of gender specific data in six domains representing Economic security, Education, Health, Work and family balance, Safety and justice, and Democracy, governance and citizenship, Gender Indicators, Australia, has been developed to provide a central access point for gender specific data to explore differences in the situation for women and men in Australia, and also to provide a broad basis for social analysis and research in the field of gender. Some indicators in the publication also include commentary.

Data sources

The tables contain data from both ABS publications and non-ABS publications. For ABS sourced data, the publication name and catalogue number are included in the footnotes of the tables and, in cases where data have been provided from tailored tables from an ABS collection, the name of the ABS survey is listed. If the data are from non-ABS sources, the source organisation’s name is included in the footnotes and relevant methodological and technical information is also included.
