SELECTED RECENT RELEASES
QuickStats Country of Birth (cat no 2061.0.55.001) is a summary of Census data for people born in a selected range of countries. It has data for persons, families and dwellings. You can select from the top 53 countries of birth for geographic areas ranging from Australia, States and Territories to Greater Capital City Statistical Areas and Rest of State. Data for all people born overseas and people born in Australia are also provided for comparison. QuickStats Country of Birth is not inclusive of all Census topics, instead providing a subset of general and topical information. The data displayed covers a range of social, economic and demographic statistics, including age, language, religion and employment. Tables, graphs and narratives present the information in a way that is easily viewed and printed.
Census of Population and Housing: Estimated homelessness, 2011 (cat. no. 2049.0)
This publication presents official estimates of the prevalence of homelessness from the ABS' Census of Population and Housing for 2011. It includes a feature article "A spotlight on 'Severe' Crowding" and examines characteristics and circumstances of two key population groups; Persons born overseas and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. A number of Factsheets are also included titled Youth Homelessness, Overcrowding, Domestic and Family Violence and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Homelessness.
Australian Social Trends, Apr 2013 (cat. no. 4102.0)
This publication released three times a year, presents analysis and commentary on a wide range of social issues. Summary tables include data for key social indicators, providing an overview of social change over the past decade as well as how social conditions differ across Australian states and territories. A set of international tables compare Australia with 17 other nations. New articles for April include 'Towns of the mining boom', The 'average Australian?', 'Doctors and Nurses' and 'Young adults: Then and now'.
Australian Demographic Statistics, Sep 2012 (cat. no. 3101.0)
Released quarterly, this publication provides estimates of total population for states, territories and Australia. It includes: the most recent estimates of population in five-year age groups; numbers of births, deaths, infant deaths; interstate and overseas movements. Quarterly and/or annual time series tables are available for download. It also includes projected resident populations, projected population in households, projected number of households and projected average household size for states, territories and Australia. The September release contains additional information: Population component data for the period June 2010 to June 2011.

Overseas Arrivals and Departures, Australia, Feb 2013 (cat. no. 3401.0)
This monthly publication provides a summary of monthly data by category of movement. For visitors arriving and residents departing short term, the intended length of stay, main purpose of journey, principal destination (departures) or country of usual residence (arrivals) and state and territory in which most time was spent. For settler arrivals -- region of birth. A feature article in December 2012 release was titled
'International Movements 2012'.
2011 Table Builder Basic, 2011 Third Release (cat no. 2072.0)
This product allows you to build your own tables of data from a range of 2011 Census classifications. You can also view and export the data in a variety of graphs and maps. You can access 2011 Census data for most topics including age, education, housing, income, transport, religion, ethnicity, occupation and more, from a single Statistical Area Level 1 (SA1) to all of Australia. TableBuilder Basic is freely available on the ABS website via an interactive, easy to use interface, with maps to assist you in choosing areas. We also create a range of predefined data tables on selected topics to help get you started.
The third release adds geography 'Remoteness Area' to the available areas.
