A number of releases of Overseas Arrivals and Departures, Australia (cat. no. 3401.0) have been delayed due to passenger card processing issues as announced by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). For further information see the Notes Section.

SEPTEMBER KEY POINTS
SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during September 2014 (578,700 movements) increased 0.2% compared with August 2014 (577,700 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.2% in both July 2014 and August 2014. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 7.1% higher than in September 2013.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During September 2014, short-term visitor arrivals (580,400 movements) increased 0.4% compared with August 2014 (578,300 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.3% in July 2014 and a monthly increase of 1.3% in August 2014.
- Original estimates: There were 517,500 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in September 2014.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during September 2014 (763,600 movements) increased 0.1% compared with August 2014 (762,900 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.3% in July 2014 and 0.1% in August 2014. The current trend estimate for departures is 3.2% higher than in September 2013.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During September 2014, short-term resident departures (759,000 movements) decreased 0.6% compared with August 2014 (763,200 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.6% in July 2014 and a monthly increase of 0.1% in August 2014.
- Original estimates: There were 900,200 short-term resident departures from Australia in September 2014.
