Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during September 2013 (542,400 movements) increased 0.7% compared with August 2013 (538,800 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.8% in both July and August 2013. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 4.9% higher than in September 2012.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During September 2013, short-term visitor arrivals (547,800 movements) recorded an increase of 0.9% compared with August 2013 (542,600 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 6.1% in July and a monthly increase of 2.3% in August 2013.
Original estimates: There were 495,100 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in September 2013.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during September 2013 (741,700 movements) increased 0.2% compared with August 2013 (739,800 movements). This follows monthly increases of 0.7% in July and 0.5% in August 2013. The current trend estimate for departures is 8.1% higher than in September 2012.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During September 2013, short-term resident departures (743,500 movements) increased 1.0% compared with August 2013 (736,300 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.2% in July 2013 and no change in August 2013.
Original estimates: There were 893,500 short-term resident departures from Australia during September 2013.
