SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals to Australia during May 2010 (479,200 movements) decreased 0.2% compared with April 2010 (480,200 movements). This followed similar changes for the months of March 2010 and April 2010. Currently, trend estimates for arrivals are 3.9% higher than in May 2009.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During May 2010, arrivals (478,900 movements) recorded an increase of 2.4% compared with April 2010 (467,600 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.9% for March 2010 and a monthly decrease of 4.5% for April 2010.
- Original estimates: There were 376,400 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in May 2010.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures from Australia during May 2010 (573,100 movements) increased 0.6% compared with April 2010 (569,900 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.7% for March 2010 and 0.6% for April 2010. Currently, trend estimates for departures are 11.7% higher than in May 2009.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During May 2010, departures (574,400 movements) increased by 2.1% compared with April 2010 (562,600 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 5.7% for March 2010 and a monthly decrease of 3.9% for April 2010.
- Original estimates: There were 556,200 short-term resident departures from Australia during May 2010.
