SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals to Australia during May 2008 (475,600 movements), increased 0.3% compared with April 2008 (474,200 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.4% for March 2008 and 0.5% for April 2008.
- Currently, trend estimates for arrivals are 0.8% higher than in May 2007.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During May 2008, arrivals (479,600 movements) increased by 0.6% compared with April 2008 (477,000 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.6% for March 2008 and a monthly increase of 1.7% for April 2008.
- Original estimates: There were 380,900 arrivals to Australia in May 2008.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures from Australia during May 2008 (489,000 movements), increased 0.8% compared with April 2008 (485,400 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.7% each for March 2008 and April 2008.
- Currently, trend estimates for departures are 9.2% higher than in May 2007.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During May 2008, departures (496,400 movements) increased by 2.5% compared with April 2008 (484,500 movements). This followed monthly increases of 2.7% for March 2008 and 0.2% for April 2008.
- Original estimates: There were 488,500 departures from Australia during May 2008.

Short-term Visitor Arrival Estimates, Australia (cat. no. 3401.0.55.001). May 2008 was the final issue of the publication and was released on 18 June 2008.
