JULY KEY POINTS
SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during July 2015 (610,400 movements) changed marginally compared with June 2015 (610,200 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.3% in May 2015 and 0.1% in June 2015. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 5.8% higher than in July 2014.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During July 2015, short-term visitor arrivals (607,000 movements) decreased 0.1% compared with June 2015 (607,800 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.4% in May 2015 and a monthly increase of 0.2% in June 2015.
- Original estimates: There were 627,100 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in July 2015.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during July 2015 (781,700 movements) increased 0.2% compared with June 2015 (780,300 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.1% in both May 2015 and June 2015. The current trend estimate for departures is 2.8% higher than in July 2014.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During July 2015, short-term resident departures (788,900 movements) increased 0.7% compared with June 2015 (783,500 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.6% in May 2015 and a monthly increase of 2.0% in June 2015.
- Original estimates: There were 822,200 short-term resident departures from Australia in July 2015.
