JULY KEY POINTS
SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during July 2014 (573,100 movements) increased 0.1% compared with June 2014 (572,300 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.3% in May 2014 and 0.1% in June 2014. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 8.3% higher than in July 2013.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During July 2014, short-term visitor arrivals (569,300 movements) increased 1.0% compared with June 2014 (563,700 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 1.6% in May 2014 and a monthly decrease of 3.1% in June 2014.
Original estimates: There were 586,900 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in July 2014.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during July 2014 (764,800 movements) increased 0.5% compared with June 2014 (760,800 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.6% in May 2014 and 0.5% in June 2014. The current trend estimate for departures is 4.3% higher than in July 2013.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During July 2014, short-term resident departures (763,800 movements) decreased 0.7% compared with June 2014 (768,900 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 4.9% in May 2014 and a monthly increase of 1.9% in June 2014.
Original estimates: There were 787,400 short-term resident departures from Australia in July 2014.
