JULY KEY POINTS
SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals to Australia during July 2010 (477,700 movements) remained stable compared with June 2010 (477,700 movements). This followed marginal decreases for the months of May and June 2010. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 4.1% higher than in July 2009.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During July 2010, short-term visitor arrivals (480,600 movements) recorded a decrease of 1.5% compared with June 2010 (488,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 1.6% for May 2010 and 2.4% for June 2010.
- Original estimates: There were 514,800 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in July 2010.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures from Australia during July 2010 (601,200 movements) increased 1.2% compared with June 2010 (594,300 movements). This followed similar monthly increases of 1.5% for May and 1.4% for June 2010. The current trend estimate for departures is 14.5% higher than in July 2009.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During July 2010, short-term resident departures (602,400 movements) decreased by 2.1% compared with June 2010 (615,600 movements). This followed monthly increases of 2.2% for May and 6.5% for June 2010.
- Original estimates: There were 616,600 short-term resident departures from Australia during July 2010.
