Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during December 2013 (564,900 movements) increased 1.0% compared with November 2013 (559,300 movements). This followed monthly increases of 1.1% in both October and November 2013. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 7.5% higher than in December 2012.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During December 2013, short-term visitor arrivals (580,900 movements) recorded an increase of 6.0% compared with November 2013 (547,800 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.8% in October and a decrease of 0.1% in November 2013.
Original estimates: There were 789,400 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in December 2013.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during December 2013 (747,900 movements) increased 0.5% compared with November 2013 (744,300 movements). This follows a monthly increase of 0.4% in October and and an increase of 0.5% in November 2013. The current trend estimate for departures is 8.0% higher than in December 2012.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During December 2013, short-term resident departures (764,800 movements) increased 4.1% compared with November 2013 (734,500 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 1.2% in October and an increase of 0.2% in November 2013.
Original estimates: There were 991,400 short-term resident departures from Australia during December 2013.
