APRIL KEY POINTS


SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during April 2014 (569,300 movements) increased 0.6% compared with March 2014 (566,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.7% in February 2014 and 0.6% in March 2014. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 10.4% higher than in April 2013.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During April 2014, short-term visitor arrivals (573,200 movements) increased 2.5% compared with March 2014 (559,300 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.1% in February 2014 and a monthly decrease of 0.5% in March 2014.
  • Original estimates: There were 526,400 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in April 2014.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during April 2014 (754,400 movements) increased 0.6% compared with March 2014 (750,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.3% in February 2014 and 0.4% in March 2014. The current trend estimate for departures is 5.1% higher than in April 2013.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During April 2014, short-term resident departures (789,700 movements) increased 10.6% compared with March 2014 (714,000 movements). This followed monthly decreases of 1.2% in February 2014 and 3.6% in March 2014.
  • Original estimates: There were 807,500 short-term resident departures from Australia in April 2014.
