ABOUT THIS RELEASE
The 2001 Census Household Sample File (HSF) is a comprehensive unit record database of census characteristics, containing a random sample of person, family, household and dwelling data. The HSF is produced for model testing and statistical analysis. It is released in two formats, the basic and expanded data files. The technical paper provides all relevant metadata for the files to enable users of the HSF to utilise the files to their potential.
The HSF is released under strict conditions and clients are required to sign an undertaking stating that the information will be used for statistical purposes only.
