ANALYSIS - TOTAL RETAIL TOTAL RETAIL - QUARTERLY In volume terms, the seasonally adjusted estimate for the June quarter 2018 rose 1.2% following a rise of 0.2% in the March quarter 2018 and a rise of 0.8% in the December quarter 2017. In the June quarter 2018, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms for Food retailing (1.6%), Household goods retailing (1.4%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (2.0%), Department stores (2.2%), Other retailing (0.7%), and Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.1%). The Implicit Price Deflator for Australian turnover fell 0.1% in seasonally adjusted terms in the June quarter 2018. TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE The following states and territories rose in trend terms in June 2018: New South Wales (0.5%), Victoria (0.5%), Tasmania (0.9%), South Australia (0.2%), the Australian Capital Territory (0.8%), Western Australia (0.1%), and the Northern Territory (0.7%). Queensland (0.0%) was relatively unchanged in trend terms in June 2018. The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in June 2018: Victoria (1.1%), New South Wales (0.4%), Western Australia (0.2%), the Australian Capital Territory (1.2%), and Tasmania (0.9%). South Australia (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. Queensland (-0.3%) and the Northern Territory (-0.4%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in June 2018. In the June quarter 2018, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms in the following states: New South Wales (1.7%), Victoria (1.7%), Tasmania (2.7%), Western Australia (0.4%), the Australian Capital Territory (2.4%), Queensland (0.2%), South Australia (0.6%), and the Northern Territory (3.0%).
