Release of June Quarter 2003 National Accounts (5206.0) and July 2003 Retail Trade (8501.0) Following a request from the Treasurer, the Acting Australian Statistician has decided to release the June Quarter 2003 National Accounts (5206.0) one day earlier, at 11.30 am on Tuesday, 2 September 2003. There is an established expectation that the Treasurer will be available to comment on key macro-economic statistics such as the National Accounts soon after release. This would not have been possible on this occasion due to the Treasurer’s commitment to attend the APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Thailand. The July 2003 issue of Retail Trade, Australia (8501.0) had been scheduled for release on 2 September 2003. However, because of the bring forward of the National Accounts release, the Acting Australian Statistician has decided to delay the release of 8501.0 by one day, to 11:30am on Wednesday, 3 September 2003, to avoid congestion on the ABS web site.
