Tasmanian agriculture can be characterised by the fact that many farm enterprises carry out mixed farming activities. Although long known as the 'Apple Isle', Tasmanian farmers have developed a reputation for other high quality products including superfine wool, beef and sheep meat, dairy produce and vegetables, in arguably one of the world's cleanest environments.
