Direct greenhouse gas emissions

Total Direct Greenhouse Gas Emissions remained steady at 545,708 Gg in the 2016-17 financial year:

  • Electricity, gas and water supply decreased by 2.7% to 204,090 Gg, contributing 37% to total emissions
  • Mining increased by 9% to 80,705 Gg, contributing 15% to total emissions
  • Households increased by 1% to 68,319 Gg, contributing 13% to total emissions
  • Agriculture, forestry and fishing decreased by 3% to 59,560 Gg, contributing 11% to total emissions.
