There were an estimated 33,212 farms in Victoria at 30 June 2003.
Beef cattle farming was the most common farming activity with about 7,900 farms in Victoria mainly engaged in this activity.
Dairy cattle farming and sheep farming were the next most common activities with just under one third of Victorian farms mainly engaged in one of these types of operations.
