Attention: News Editors, Chiefs of Staff Media Alert Media Alert Media Alert Media Alert Household expenditure and recorded crime - to be released on Wednesday The Australian Bureau of Statistics will release the summary of results of the Household Expenditure Survey, Australia 1998-99 (cat. no. 6530.0) and the publication Recorded Crime Australia, 1999 (cat. no. 4510.0) on Wednesday 28 June, 2000. Household Expenditure Survey
National crime statistics are compiled on a victim basis and measure the number of victims for each offence category rather than the breaches of criminal law. The publication provides a breakdown of the offences by victim details (age of victim, sex of victim, and relationship of offender to victim). Type of location and use of weapon data are also provided. From 1 January 1997, outcome of police investigations statistics are also included.
