The 2001 Classification Counts provide frequency counts for 2001 Census variables in full classificatory detail, available for each State and Territory and Capital City Statistical Division. These are cross-classified by sex where applicable. Classification Counts will be released in two phases. First release are those variables which are relatively easy to process, such as age, birthplace, language, dwelling type, rent and housing loan repayment. Second release are those variables which require more complex processing such as industry of employment, labour force status, and non-school qualification.

Classification Counts are available on the ABS Website, or through the ABS Consultancy Service. The recommended retail price (RRP) is applicable to each Classification Count purchased (that is, for each classification variable and classification count type requested). An appropriate labour charge is added to the RRP when Classification Counts are disseminated through an ABS consultant.
