The Preschool Education, Australia 2017 is an annual product containing counts of children enrolled in and attending a preschool program.

In 2017:

    • There were 339,243 children aged 4 or 5 enrolled in a preschool program
    • 56,564 of children were enrolled in Government preschools, 86,652 in Non-government preschools and 168,049 in Long day care centres
    • 95% of children were enrolled for 15 hours + per week
    • Increase of 11.6% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children attending 15 hours + per week
