In December 2009, 3.2 million tonnes of wheat grain was committed for domestic use or export, an increase of 291 thousand tonnes from November 2009.

Of the total committed, 1.7 million tonnes was contracted for export and 1.5 million tonnes for domestic use. Increased commitments for export were reported in New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.

Compared to December 2008, the total wheat grain contracted for export was 17% lower, and that contracted for domestic use showed a 15% increase.
