BUILDING APPROVALS The trend estimate for Australia rose 1.1% in August. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate rose 0.4% to 18,514 dwellings. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector houses approved rose 0.9% in August. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate fell 0.6% to 9,797 houses. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR DWELLINGS EXCLUDING HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector dwelling units excluding houses rose 1.3% in August. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate rose 4.8% to 8,496 dwellings. VALUE OF NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of new residential building approved rose 0.8% in August and has risen for three months. VALUE OF ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS TO RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of alterations and additions to residential building was flat in August after rising for three months. VALUE OF NON-RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of non-residential building approved fell 1.8% in August after rising for six months.
