Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during December 2014 (588,500 movements) increased 0.5% compared with November 2014 (585,500 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.4% in October 2014 and November 2014. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 6.1% higher than in December 2013.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During December 2014, short-term visitor arrivals (592,600 movements) increased 2.3% compared with November 2014 (579,000 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 1.9% in October 2014 and a decrease of 1.8% in November 2014.
Original estimates: There were 807,100 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in December 2014.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during December 2014 (761,800 movements) increased 0.2% compared with November 2014 (760,500 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.1% in October 2014 and 0.3% in November 2014. The current trend estimate for departures is 2.4% higher than in December 2013.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During December 2014, short-term resident departures (773,100 movements) increased 2.5% compared with November 2014 (754,400 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.2% in October 2014 and a decrease of 0.2% in November 2014.
Original estimates: There were 1,017,600 short-term resident departures from Australia in December 2014.
