In the September quarter 2009, beef production increased 1% to 537 thousand tonnes, compared to June quarter 2009. MUTTON AND LAMB While mutton production in the September quarter 2009 decreased 16% to 54 thousand tonnes, compared to the September quarter of the previous year, lamb production increased 8% to 110 thousand tonnes in the same period. PIG MEAT Pig meat production in the September quarter 2009 decreased 2% to 82 thousand tonnes, compared to the same quarter in 2008. TOTAL RED MEAT Total red meat production increased 1% to 791 thousand tonnes in the September quarter 2009, compared to the June quarter 2009. CHICKEN MEAT Chicken meat production in the September quarter 2009, increased 2% to 207 thousand tonnes, compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
