Pears are a significant fruit crop in Victoria. In 2001-02, Victorian farmers produced 126,400 tonnes of pears, well ahead of the next highest producer (Western Australia with 9,700 tonnes). The great majority of pears were grown in Goulburn Statistical Division (SD).
The three most common varieties of pears grown in Victoria were:
- WBC (68,500 tonnes)
- Packham (44,500 tonnes)
- Beurre Bosc (8,700 tonnes)
