ELECTRONIC LODGEMENTS WITH GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS
For three of the five response options, the proportion of businesses reporting electronic lodgements increases through successive employment size ranges. For example, 35% of businesses with 0-4 persons employed reported lodgement of taxation forms over the Internet or web, compared with 83% of businesses with 200 or more persons employed. Across all industries, payments were the most common type of electronic lodgement with government organisations, particularly by businesses in Professional, scientific and technical services (65%). Businesses in Mining were the most likely to lodge taxation forms over the Internet or web (53%). Health care and social assistance recorded the highest proportion of businesses which lodged claims for grants or benefits (20%), more than twice the proportion of the next highest industry, Transport, postal and warehousing (8%).
