This issue of the Australian Environmental-Economic Accounts brings all ABS environmental accounts together in one place to deliver a broad and cohesive picture of the environmental stocks and flows of relevance to the Australian economy and society. It forms a cohesive and relevant body of environmental-economic accounts (‘environmental accounts’) and builds on ABS work to establish an ongoing system of environmental accounts that meet the needs of policymakers in a cost-effective and timely manner. Australian Environmental-Economic Accounts are based on the System of Environmental and Economic Accounting (SEEA), which was elevated to the status of an international statistical standard early in 2012.
