Trend positive for March new motor vehicle sales: ABS The trend estimate for new motor vehicle sales increased by 1.1% in March 2003 (72,570) compared with February 2003 (71,750). This is the fifth consecutive month of trend increases. Passenger vehicle sales increased by 1.1%, while other vehicle sales increased by 1.2% over the same period. All states and territories recorded increases in the trend for sales of new motor vehicles in March 2003. The Northern Territory had the highest growth with 3.3%, while the Australian Capital Territory had the lowest growth with 0.6% between February 2003 and March 2003. Seasonally adjusted estimates increased by 2.0% in March 2003 (72,907) compared with February 2003 (71,460). Seasonally adjusted sales of passenger and other vehicles increased by 2.5% and 1.0% respectively.
