NSW accounts for almost all of the Australian rice crop. Rice production is undertaken in three areas: the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, the Coleambally Irrigation Area and the Murray Valley Irrigation Area. In 2003-04, 57% of all rice produced in NSW came from the Murrumbidgee Statistical Division (315,000 tonnes). This was followed by the Murray Statistical Division with 234,900 tonnes.
