BUSINESS SYSTEMS SUPPORTING THE RECEIPT OF ORDERS
Businesses which received orders via the Internet or web were asked to specify the types of automated links between systems used to receive orders and other business systems as at 30 June 2008.
Of the businesses which received orders, 78% indicated that their systems used to receive orders did not have automated links to any of the listed business systems. The most common automated links reported were business's systems for invoicing and payment (12%) and links to suppliers' business systems (9%).

By employment size, businesses with 200 or more persons employed were the most likely to report automated links across all listed business systems and with a significantly higher proportion than other size groups. For example, 24% of businesses with 200 or more persons employed reported automated links for
reordering replacement supplies, compared with 3% of businesses with 0-4 persons employed.
Businesses in Financial and insurance services were the most likely to have any automated links, at 48%, whereas those in Electricity, gas, water and waste services were the least likely (5%). Financial and insurance services recorded the highest proportion of businesses with automated links to
suppliers' business systems (26%),
business's systems for invoicing and payment (18%) and
business's systems for production or service operations (9%).
