Wheat is grown predominantly west of the Great Dividing Range, extending along the centre of NSW from the Northern Statistical Division down to the Murray Statistical Division.

In 2002-03, production was considerably reduced due to drought conditions (2.5 million tonnes).

In 2002-03, 29% of all wheat produced in NSW came from the Murrumbidgee Statistical Division (728,400 tonnes). This was followed by the Murray Statistical Division with 462,800 tonnes.
