INTRODUCTION TO DATA CUBES
The Excel file provided contains detailed divorce tables for the electronic product Divorces, Australia 2002 (cat. no. 3307.0.55.001). Each spreadsheet in the file contains one table. There are ten tables in total and these are listed and described below.

TABLE 1. SELECTED DIVORCE INDICATORS, Australia - Selected years from 1982 to 2002
Contains data for Australia for 1982, 1992 and 1997-2002, on: divorces granted; crude divorce rates; median duration of marriage to separation and divorce; divorces involving dependant children (number of divorces, proportion of divorces, number of children, average number of dependant children); relative birthplace of parties; applicant for divorce; age-specific divorce rates; and median age of husband and wife at marriage, separation and divorce.

Contains data for states, territories and Australia for 2002 on: divorces granted: crude divorce rates: median duration of marriage to separation and divorce; divorces involving dependant children (number of divorces, proportion of divorces, number of children, average number of dependant children); applicant for divorce; age-specific divorce rates; and median age of husband and wife at marriage, separation and divorce.
TABLE 3. AGE-SPECIFIC DIVORCE RATES - Selected years from 1976 to 2001
Contains age-specific divorce rates based on the married population for 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991 and 1996 to 2001.
TABLE 4. INTERNATIONAL COMPARISON OF DIVORCES
Contains number of divorces and crude divorce rate for selected countries for selected years. The source of this international data in the United Nations Demographic Yearbook, 2001 and eariler issues.
TABLE 5. RELATIVE AGE OF DIVORCING PARTIES AT DIVORCE - 2002
Contains data for Australia for 2002 on the relative age of divorcing parties (same age, younger or older) by the age of husband and wife respectively. Age differences are classified as 0 years, 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-9 years and 10 years or more. Age of husband and wife is classified as 24 years and under and then five-year age groups to 65 years and over.
TABLE 6. DURATION OF MARRIAGE TO SEPARATION AND DIVORCE, Age of divorcing parties - 2002
Contains data for Australia for 2002 on duration to separation and divorce by age of husband and wife. Duration of marriage is given in single years to 4 years of marriage and then grouped five yearly intervals to 29 years of marriage and 30 years or more of marriage. Age is classified as in table 5.

Contains data for Australia for 2002 on duration of marriage to divorce by applicant for divorce. Duration of marriage is given in single years to 29 years of marriage and is then grouped for 30 years of marriage and over. Median duration of marriage to divorce by applicant is also provided.

Contains data for Australia for 2001 (data are not available for 2002) on the relative country of birth of wife, median duration of marriage to separation and divorce, divorces involving dependant children (number of divorces and number of children), applicant for divorce, median age of husband for each selected country of birth of husband.

Contains data for Australia for 2002 on the number of dependant children of the marriage as 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 or more children of the marriage by the age of the youngest child in single years of age.
