Educational attainment in Canberra More than half of Canberra's residents had non-school qualifications, according to an analysis of 2006 Census figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The proportion of Canberrans with non-school qualifications increased from 41% in 1996 to 52% in 2006. Nearly a third (30%) of Canberra's residents had a Bachelor Degree or higher qualification, compared to 16% of Queanbeyan residents and 16% nationally. However, only 13% of ACT residents held a Certificate I - IV qualification, compared to 18% of Queanbeyan residents and 17% nationally. Other key findings from the report include:
